LIBRARY CLOSURE - May 20-23

Bloomington Library will be CLOSED Monday-Thursday, May 20-23.

The Bookmobile will make its stops during these closures. The Bookmobile schedule is available at bit.ly/bookmobileschedule.

  • Monday’s English Conversation Group will meet at STAR Literacy (201 E. Grove St.)
  • Tuesday’s Fiction Book Club will meet online via Zoom. Visit bit.ly/fiction521 to register for this program and receive the Zoom link.

This closure will allow us to continue to unbox 107,000 books (which were moved to storage when our construction project began) and to shelve 262,000 books. Some collections and areas of the library will not be available until the library reopens on Friday, May 24.

Program Description

Reading Colors Your World StoryWalk

Enjoy the afternoon at McGraw Park while taking a stroll as you read We’ve Got the Whole World in our Hands by Rafael López (Scholastic, 2018). This free event will get the whole family out and active!

Attendees will also learn about the programs Bloomington Parks, Recreation & Cultural Arts Department and Bloomington Public Library will be offering this summer. Additional organizations set up along the StoryWalk® and offer information about their Summer activities/programs. Take-home activities will also be distributed.

StoryWalks® have been installed in 50 states and 14 countries, including Germany, Canada, England, Bermuda, Russia, Malaysia, Pakistan and South Korea! StoryWalk® was created by Anne Ferguson of Montpelier, VT and was developed with the help of Rachel Senechal, Kellogg-Hubbard Library. The Bloomington Public Library and the Bloomington Parks, Recreation and Cultural Arts Department are pleased to offer this cooperative program.

This event will take proper COVID-19 precautions: hand sanitizer station, face coverings are required for all families, and families will be asked to respect social distancing. Thank you.
