LIBRARY CLOSURE - May 20-23

Bloomington Library will be CLOSED Monday-Thursday, May 20-23.

The Bookmobile will make its stops during these closures. The Bookmobile schedule is available at bit.ly/bookmobileschedule.

  • Monday’s English Conversation Group will meet at STAR Literacy (201 E. Grove St.)
  • Tuesday’s Fiction Book Club will meet online via Zoom. Visit bit.ly/fiction521 to register for this program and receive the Zoom link.

This closure will allow us to continue to unbox 107,000 books (which were moved to storage when our construction project began) and to shelve 262,000 books. Some collections and areas of the library will not be available until the library reopens on Friday, May 24.

Program Description

Books 'n Bites: Teacher Appreciation

May 3-9 is Teacher Appreciation Week and Children’s Book Week!

Kids who register for this month's Books 'n Bites program will be able to pick up a new book (from an assortment of 2021 children's books) to give to their teacher. The book can be picked up at Curbside Pickup from 9-11am on Tuesday, May 4. Email alexb@bloomingtonlibrary.org to make other arrangements if this pick-up window does not work or if you prefer that the Library deliver the book to the teacher of your choice on your behalf.

When we meet on Zoom, we will share what we love about our teachers and the books they've read aloud to us; we'll look at the books we will be giving our teachers; and we'll write thank you notes inside those books.

During the registration window for this program, registration can be completed online below, by calling 309.590.6155, or in person at the Children's Services Desk at the Library. As soon as registration is complete, you will receive an email with the link needed to access the online discussion.
